Keywave at Evolve 26: Bringing Camera-Free Smart Sensing into the Real World

On 27 June 2026, Keywave Technology joined Evolve 26 to demonstrate how intelligent sensing technology can make buildings, devices, and automated systems more responsive to the people around them.

Rather than simply displaying semiconductor products, our focus was on something more practical: showing what better sensing can enable in real-world applications.

Throughout the event, we met companies, engineers, students, innovators, and potential partners interested in smart buildings, automation, energy efficiency, Edge AI, embedded systems, and the next generation of intelligent devices.


From Motion Detection to Understanding Human Presence

One of the most discussed topics at our booth was the difference between detecting movement and detecting human presence.

Traditional sensors can work very well when someone is actively moving. But modern smart systems increasingly need to know whether a person is still present even when they are sitting, working, reading, or remaining relatively still.

This is where Keywave's KW307 24GHz human presence sensing technology attracted particular attention.

KW307 provides camera-free human presence sensing, allowing products to understand occupancy without relying on images or video. By detecting subtle human movement and presence, it can provide more useful information for systems such as:

  • Smart lighting and HVAC control

  • Meeting rooms and offices

  • Building automation

  • Energy-saving systems

  • Smart appliances

  • Edge AI and intelligent devices

  • Occupancy-aware environments

The goal is not simply to switch something on when movement occurs. It is to give smart systems more reliable information about what is actually happening in the environment.


KW307: Making Human Presence Part of the Smart System

At Evolve 26, visitors were particularly interested in how KW307 could become part of a wider intelligent system.

For example, a building that understands whether people are genuinely present can make better decisions about lighting, heating, ventilation, equipment operation, and energy consumption.

For Edge AI devices, sensing can also provide valuable real-world information before higher-level processing begins.

This creates an important shift: better intelligence starts with better sensing.

Instead of requiring cameras for every intelligent application, camera-free presence sensing can provide another way for products to understand their surroundings while supporting applications where privacy, power consumption, simplicity, or deployment flexibility are important considerations.


KW007: Simple and Reliable Motion Sensing

We also demonstrated our KW007 motion sensor, designed for products that need straightforward and reliable motion detection.

KW007 can support applications including lighting, automation, smart devices, energy management, and embedded electronics.

For developers, an important part of the Keywave approach is making evaluation and integration easier. Modules and evaluation hardware are available so engineering teams can quickly experiment with the technology and determine how it fits into their own products.

This attracted interest from visitors looking for an alternative sensing technology that could be integrated into existing or new designs without introducing unnecessary system complexity.


Helping Developers Move from Demo to Real Product

A recurring discussion at the exhibition was not simply whether a sensing technology works, but how easily it can be evaluated and integrated into a real product.

For this reason, Keywave presented more than individual semiconductor devices. Our booth included:

  • Sensor modules and evaluation kits

  • Live application demonstrations

  • Product videos and technical materials

  • Development information

  • Example applications

  • Technical support and evaluation options

Live demonstrations were especially valuable.

RF sensing can be difficult to fully understand from a specification table alone. Seeing a sensor respond to real people and real movement made it much easier for visitors to understand where the technology could fit into their own systems.


Strong Interest in Camera-Free Sensing and Edge Intelligence

Discussions during Evolve 26 highlighted several areas attracting increasing attention.

Camera-free human presence sensing was one of the strongest themes, particularly for smart buildings and environments where cameras may be unnecessary or undesirable.

There was also significant interest in energy-saving applications. Reliable occupancy information can allow systems to make better decisions about when energy-consuming equipment should remain active and when it can safely reduce consumption.

Another important area was Edge AI.

AI systems can only make useful decisions when they receive useful information about the physical world. Sensors therefore play an increasingly important role at the edge, providing the real-world data that intelligent systems need to react appropriately.

For Keywave, this is an important direction: sensing should not simply act as a trigger. It can become part of the intelligence layer of the product.


Making New Sensing Technology Easier to Evaluate

One clear message from our conversations at Evolve 26 was that developers want to test new sensing technologies quickly.

Interest alone is not enough. Engineering teams need access to evaluation hardware, documentation, demonstrations, and technical support before deciding whether a technology is suitable for their next product.

That is why Keywave continues to develop its ecosystem around ICs, modules, EVKs, SDKs, documentation, reference applications, and engineering support.

Our aim is to reduce the gap between discovering a new sensing technology and building it into a working product.


Looking Beyond the Exhibition

Evolve 26 gave us the opportunity to demonstrate our technology, but more importantly, it generated conversations about what can be built with it.

We spoke with people exploring smart buildings, automation, energy management, Edge AI devices, electronics development, custom sensing solutions, and entirely new applications.

For Keywave, these discussions are particularly valuable because the future of sensing will not be defined by the sensor alone.

It will be defined by what developers can build when products understand the physical world more accurately, efficiently, and intelligently.

Evolve 26 was another opportunity for us to demonstrate that future — and to meet the engineers, companies, and innovators who may help build it.
